Practice with Marcia at Yoga South.
"My heart holds within it every form. It contains a pasture for gazelles, a monastery for Christian monks. There is a temple for idol-worshipers, a holy shrine for pilgrams. There is the table of the Torah and the book of the Koran. I follow the Religion of Love and go whichever way his camel leads me. This is true faith. This is the true Religion."
Marcia grew up in Syracuse, New York where she lived until she graduated from College. Growing up with four brothers and a sister and many combinations of pets, Marcia spent most of her free time playing soccer, basketball, playing cello, babysitting her brothers and taking long walks with her sister.
An artist at her core, Marcia went to college and studied Art History and continued on with soccer and lacrosse. Marcia discovered Modern Dance in college. This was the first time she felt her true inner calling emerge. It was then that she realized how powerful the connection of movement and breathe were to her overall well being. However, it wasn’t until almost six years later that Marcia once again found this connection.
Yoga found Marcia in the late 90's while she was an executive at America Online. This physical practice immediately began to transform Marcia from the inside out.
"Yoga has healed my body from stress and from unwanted and unnecessary pains from too much time sitting on an airplane and in conference rooms."
"Yoga also helped me overcome a great loss in my life when my mother passed away suddenly at the age of 57. It was this practice of turning inward, using the tools of breathe, concentration, withdrawal from the senses and a surrender to my God that helped me cope during such a hard time in my life."
A creative spirit and teacher by nature, Marcia was able to take this discipline and pull together a very eclectic approach to her yoga. Using the tools handed down to her by her teachers, Marcia honors the tradition of yoga while infusing her classes with fun inspirining music, real life lessons and the best stand up humor she is able to! Her continued inspiration comes from her two daughters, Melissa and Isabella, husband Robb and her pets.
Marcia has been honored to study with Baron Baptiste, Stephanie Keach, Shiva Rea, Andrey Lappa and to have completed her 200-hour Teacher Training with Dolly Stavros of Redstone Yoga.
